It might seem that we already know everything about a mascara and how to use it. Meanwhile, eye makeup mistakes are still very common. Therefore, if you get irritated by the fact that your lashes do not look the same as in the TV commercial – make sure you are not making one of the basic mistakes in eyelash makeup.
The most common mistakes when applying mascara
1. Donatella Versace once said that there is not such a thing as too much mascara. Unfortunately, this privilege apparently does not apply to everyone, so before applying the third or fourth layer of mascara, think about whether your mascara can cope with this. Most often, it results in glued-in lashes and the effect of the so-called spider legs.
2. Have you put on the first layer of mascara and waited patiently until it dried? It’s a waste of time and risk: it’s best to work on a wet mascara. Every stylist and make-up artist knows that. Therefore, apply the second layer of mascara before the first layer dries up – then you will be able to style your eyelashes well and you will not get any clumps on the top of your lashes.
3. Do you like pumping the mascara wand in the bottle? It is done by almost 90% of women. It involves the energetic injection of the brush into the bottle – over and over again. We think then that the brush will grab more mascara and that it will spread better between the hairs of the brush before we start applying it to our lashes. Unfortunately, this treatment only pushes a large (and completely unnecessary) amount of air into the bottle. Then, the product changes its consistency and does not apply as nice as usual.
4. We know that in the morning there is not much time for applying the makeup precisely, but sometimes it’s better to give up on the application of an eyeshadow or lipstick and focus on applying mascara. Carelessly or quickly can spoil the entire make-up and sometimes the mascara stains the upper and lower eyelids. In such a situation, it’s a good idea to use a well-known trick of make-up artists and bloggers: place a teaspoon between lashes and skin. Thanks to this method, you will make sure that no mascara will touch the skin. The excess product will be left on the spoon and the eyelid will not be stained.
5. If you do not wash your mascara wand – mascara deposits will settle in the brush’s hollows and will get to your eyelashes during makeup application. Bacteria grow very easily on a mascara wand. Remember that the mascara brush should be washed with water or a delicate non-irritating liquid. It’s best to do it once or twice a week.
