10 mistakes in eyelash makeup and care. Do they sound familiar?

We rarely think about the needs of our lashes. We do everything to increase their volume not paying attention to the adverse effects of our actions. Check out whether you make the same mistakes or not.

A majority of women want their lashes to look perfect at all time and yet, they don’t do anything to improve their condition. After all, the thickness and length of our lashes depend on heir health! In fact, a part of our actions contributes to the worsening state of our lashes instead of helping them. Often times, we unconsciously make lashes weaker, lose their vitality and contribute to increased fall out.

TOP 10 – MISTAKES IN EYELASH MAKEUP AND CARE

1. Using an out-of-date mascara.

Mascara expiry date is usually 3 months unless the producer stated differently. After this period of time, the cosmetic loses its properties, becomes thicker and dry. It is not as effective as at the beginning and may seriously harm our lashes. In addition, some of the ingredients can oxidise and change their properties which ich why you get clumps and the lashes become damaged.

2. Curling lashes coated with mascara

An eyelash curler is a tool that allows you to curl your eyelashes perfectly and even add volume. Unfortunately, many women use it incorrectly, because they rarely have time for additional beautifying treatments. Usually, we just apply a few coats of mascara. So, when we’re preparing for a more important event, we do the same and reach for an eyelash curler to make eyelashes even better-looking. This is a mistake that can end up with stuck, deformed and broken eyelashes. Always use the eyelash curler on clean eyelashes before applying mascara!

3. Not removing makeup before bedtime

One of the most common mistakes that negatively affect the condition of our eyelashes, but also our complexion, is not removing makeup before bedtime. It is most often done out of laziness, we go to sleep in makeup or do it inaccurately, forgetting that all remnants of cosmetics and impurities limit the access of nutrients and hamper the regeneration of eyelashes. Their growth is disturbed, and clogged hair follicles contribute to the weakening of the bulbs and the loss of eyelashes.

4. Overusing beautifying treatments

Lashes are very delicate hairs that do not like too much going on around them. Therefore, you must perform all the beauty treatments in moderation. The more we apply lash extensions, laminate them, tint or curl, the weaker they become. Most of the agents used to give eyelashes a certain colour and shape are chemical mixtures that permanently damage their structure.

5. Not using an eyelash serum

Even though the popularity of lash serum constantly grows, still, only women who want to increase their length reach for such a product. Nevertheless, a high-quality serum is worth using even if you are satisfied with the appearance of your lashes. It will provide your lashes with essential nutrients and provide optimal hydration, making them even more beautiful. If you do not use eyelash serum, your eyelashes are more likely to be weakened.

6. Applying too many coats of mascara

Moderation is very important in makeup. Not only to avoid caricatural effects but also because of the health of your eyelashes. Too much mascara is definitely nothing good. Why? Its excess can settle in the outlets of the hair follicles, stick lashes together and overburden them. Also, the formula causes that they fall out more often, are weaker and more susceptible to mechanical damage.

7. Using waterproof mascara without a good reason

Women like waterproof mascaras, because they guarantee impeccable appearance regardless of the conditions – rain, wind, crying, etc. Mascaras with a waterproof formula are often enriched with harmful substances that can weaken eyelashes. It is definitely better to choose non-waterproof mascaras, which have a well-composed formula that is long-lasting with easy makeup removal.

8. Regular eyelash extensions

False eyelashes look stunning, they are very comfortable and there is no need to apply mascara every morning. While applying lash extensions once does not cause any damage to the eyelashes, wearing them on a daily basis involve permanent weakening of the bulbs and excessive lash loss. These types of treatments are worth leaving only for special occasions.

9. Applying castor oil to eyelashes

The idea of applying eyelash oil is not bad. Oils contain a lot of valuable fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins. Castor oil is the most often recommended oil, which theoretically is supposed to boost its growth. Unfortunately, it is very thick and, without mixing with other, lighter oils, it can stick and weaken lashes.

10. Inappropriate makeup removal

It’s worth getting back to makeup removal once again. Skipping it is a shameful mistake, but by doing it incorrectly, you can also hurt your eyelashes a lot. For eye makeup, micellar water or gentle lotions or lotions which dissolve and collect eyelash cosmetics are the best. Then, it is enough to apply a cotton pad moistened with the cosmetic, wait for a while and gently wipe the impurities away. The worst thing that we can do to our eyelashes is rubbing them too vigorously.
